Shem Thomas

Folk Pop (CH)

At 30, Shem Thomas quit his well-paid job, moved into an old VW bus in the forest, and set out to find himself — a decision that ultimately launched his music career. He began performing as a street musician across Switzerland and Austria, and in 2014 reached the finals of The Voice of Switzerland, earning a major-label deal. His debut single «Crossroads» went gold, and his first album reached No. 2 on the Swiss charts.

Refusing to be boxed into one style, Shem Thomas continued to evolve. His second album «8» (2022) blends catchy singer-songwriter tunes with electronic pop and genre excursions, including reggae. His warm, slightly rough voice and charismatic stage presence have made him a welcome guest at major events like Moon & Stars and Openair Gampel, with tours regularly selling out.

Since 2024, he has been paving the way for his third album (due in 2026), returning to the essentials: voice and guitar. The journey began with the folk-pop anthem «Coastline», which entered the Swiss Top 100 Airplay Charts. He followed it with «Someone», «Echo», «Who I Am», and his first Christmas release — a unique take on «All I Want for Christmas Is You». Early 2025 saw «We Can», a duet with Swiss artist Jaël. Now, with «Free», he releases a moving autumn single that resonates long after it ends.
