Charly Klauser
With her debut album ‘MEHR’, released in June 2022, Charly Klauser proves her exceptional musical talent, which is no longer in need of validation. The multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer crowns her rich biography as an artist and musician.
Charly, 32 years young, is the daughter of a Cologne-based family of musicians and first appeared in front of an audience with an instrument in her hand at the age of two and a half – in the front row of a violin orchestra. Over the past ten years, she has shared the stage with big names in the German music scene such as Alvaro Soler, Sasha, Tim Bendzko, Johannes Oerding, Peter Maffay and Carolin Kebekus, playing a variety of instruments. It’s no surprise that Die Ärzte recruited her as the lead actress ‘Charlotte Kraft’ for their video ‘Kraft’.
Challenges seem to be her lifeblood, and no hurdle is too high for her. In recent years, she has also pursued her solo project at full steam and does everything herself on her debut album ‘Mehr’; every note was written by her, played and recorded by her, and she is also responsible for the production and mixing.
Ten independently powerful pop songs revolve around the big questions about the meaning of life, the ‘right’ decisions and the feeling of finally arriving at one’s destination. Despite all her perfection, one fully believes Charly; she sings soulfully and gently at times, then angrily and desperately at others, when she denounces the ignorance and despondency in our society in ‘Was in aller Welt’ (What on Earth). The music skilfully navigates the fine line between commercial appeal and artistic ambition and sounds just like ‘what my childhood bedroom used to look like: colourful and full of loving details.’
